Good morning, my name is Sandy Beach and I'm an alcoholic. You know, when I come to this group I realize how more enthusiastic it is than a lot of groups. And there's something very spiritual about being enthusiastic. That is, it just reinforces inside of us that we're on the right course. And that we're mixing with people that have our best interests at heart as much as we feel towards them. And it's that mutual concern for each other and love for each other that has held AA together all these years. And one of my favorite lines in the big book is, we're people that wouldn't ordinarily mix. What a powerful line. I remember when I came in, I don't know if you were judgmental at all, but I had about 25 categories of people that I thought it would be useless to listen to. Why don't I want to listen to somebody from the South? Why don't I want to listen to somebody from Canada? What the hell do the Canadians know? So if you didn't look just like me, it was very unlikely that I was going to pay attention to anything you were saying. And of course, you miss out on some of the most wonderful pieces of wisdom. They come from new people, old people, people with second grade education, PhDs, whatever it is. So if you're new, you want to pay attention to everybody at a discussion meeting, a speaker meeting, whatever, because they may be about to say something that will transform your whole life. And you don't want to miss it because you prejudged them and said it wasn't worthwhile. I got sober up in the Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia area, yay, on December 7th of 1964. And yeah, I'm in the same class with Tommy, only he's way ahead of me, but we both got sober in 64. And if my calculations are right, next January you'll have 50 years. And I'll tell you, when I get 50 years and I'm 84 or whatever the hell it is, then I'm going to not hold back on what I want to. I've been exercising so much self-restraint over the last 20 years that, boy, you're going to hear some stuff. All right. One observation that I'll make about AA, they always ask if you're on a panel and you're old….
