TWO PAGE BULLETIN Our Bulletin is only two pages this August, to make room for the four page Convention Highlights, which you’ll find with this mailing. We thought that all those who weren’t able to be in Long Beach would want to know more about these exciting and inspirational three days. OKINAWA: The Keystone Group in Okinawa celebrated its 2nd Anniversary on July 1st. A letter tells us: “We have grown so fast in the last three months, due to the fine assistance of the C. 0. and his neuropsychiatric staff of the Army Hospital for the Island, that we couldn’t possibly cover it all in one letter. With the addition of five women to the Fellowship and the possibility of a couple of more in the near future, we are talking and thinking along the lines of a woman’s group.” They have a Ham Radio operator in the group and would like to be in touch with other Hams . . . so Hams, do write in and we’ll put you in touch. FRANKFURT, GERMANY: There’s a new phone number for Frankfurt It is CIvilian 52.-1808. Visitors please take note. OCTOBER INTERNATIONAL ISSUE OF THE GRAPEVINE: The October International edition of the AA Grapevine will soon be ready for the printer. This year’s copy will include a wonderful story about an A.A. member’s travels in Africa, the reflections of an Indian Doctor, a special message from Bill, as well as reports from all over the A.A. world abroad. The Grapevine wishes to remind groups and subscribers that last year’s International Edition was sold out and to suggest you get your orders for extra copies in early. “A.A. Today” has sold nearly 20,000 copies to date. Only five thousand are still available. Check your list unless you wish to wait for a possible 3rd printing this winter. A MESSAGE OF APPRECIATION: An inmate group at the Burwash Industrial Farm, Burwash, Ontario, writes: “We are very much aware of the tremendous amount of requests that must be received by you from the thousands of A.A. groups throughout the world … Our group is only one of the many who request information and literature. Due to being an Institutional Group we have no means of reimbursing the General Service Office or the General Service Board materially for their kindness in helping us to carry the A. A. message to the alcoholic who still suffers and our group as a whole. But you can be sure if our appreciation and thanks could be added up in dollars and cents, you would be financially independent”

FORMER LONER REPORTS ON A. A. TRAVEL: An A. A. from La Grande, Oregon writes: “In a short time it will be thirteen years since I wrote you my first note. Since that time I have changed from a Loner’ to an active member of a fine active group of A. A. Ours is a real solid group and even though we are a long way in miles from the active centers of A. A. in Oregon, we still take part on State activities. Took a bus to Pendleton (50 miles) and then joined other A.A. s who had chartered a plane to go to Portland (200 miles more) for a State meeting. Afterwards, flying back we got into fog, then hail, then ice and were forced back, making it necessary to return home via bus and the pilot arrived home two days later . . . but it was worth it! Last week our group had visitors from Pendleton (50 miles west), Baker (50 miles east) and Long Creek (100 miles south, all making the trip just to attend A.A.” OVERHEARD AT THE LONG BEACH CONVENTION: There’s an Indian mother, father and five sons in the Telkwa, B. C. Group. TAPES: A recent letter asked for the names of members who would be willing to correspond by means of a tape recorder. Though we keep a listing of members who have tapes for exchange, perhaps there are some A.A.s whose names we don’t have, who would be interested in undertaking “Tape Correspondence”. If so, send along your name and address and we’ll make it available to others who share the same interest. AUSTRALIAN GROUP WANTS CORRESPONDENTS: The Arrarat Group, Victoria, Australia wants correspondent friends in the U.S.A. For the correct address, please write to us here at G. S. 0. DIRECTORY CORRECTION: Westdale Group, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada: $105.00 contributed by the Westdale Group was credited in error to the Sunday Morning Group.
