It’s the delegates report on the nineteen eighty-two General Service Conference held in New York City. The area delegate, Sam Eddy of Napa, California. Because at this time, I’m going to introduce our, the California North Coastal Area delegate, Sam Eddy. Hi, everyone. I’m Sam Eddy. Hi. I’m another alcoholic. Another alcoholic.
I, I wish you could be up here and see me as I see you. Uh, I’m, I’m unaccustomed to this type of a, of a podium that’s built up so high and having so much between you and me. I prefer it the other way. Uh, I don’t like to have obstacles, uh, between me and, and between people that I want to communicate with, uh, because that’s what I want to do tonight, is to, uh, as the delegate, bring back to you a post-conference report of what took place at the thirty-second conference, uh, of Alcoholics Anonymous, the General Service Conference, uh, in New York, uh, last month. Uh, the first thing I want to do i-is to thank you for giving me this opportunity. Uh, it’s something that, uh, I will cherish, uh, all of my life, and I want to thank you for what you have done this past year. Uh, you know, you owe yourself, uh, a great deal, really. Uh, you are again the number one area in Alcoholics Anonymous, and that’s based on two simple things.
First of all, it’s based on the efforts that you put out to have more groups. We have more groups in California Northern Coastal Area than any other area in Alcoholics Anonymous. And the second thing that you need to give yourself a pat on the back for is that you’re the most generous and you are the most sharing, contributing group in Alcoholics Anonymous. California Northern Coastal Area again leads Alcoholics Anonymous in their dollar contributions in nineteen eighty-one. I think you owe yourself some praise for that. And the distance between you, and because it isn’t anything that’s based on competition, but the distance between you and Nor– and Southeastern New York is very considerable. I want to thank you again for being here tonight and for making it possible for me to make this report to you. I, uh, I’m indebted to you for the tremendous amount of information and, uh, the things that you gave me as a result of the pre-conference assembly.
