My name is Cecil Corrigan, not the Cecil that, uh, stole the jug last night. But, uh , and Jim Shaw went crazy. But I am an alcoholic. I’m from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada. Hi, Cecil. Twenty-six miles west of Toronto, where I’m supposed to be flying to tomorrow, according to Charlie. And I hope that my plane doesn’t take me by Toronto, because I don’t wanna go there. But, I understand. I’ve been in the United States enough times to know you know absolutely nothing about Canadian geography, so that’s all right. I’ll forgive you for that. I’m not, uh– I’m just, uh, glad to be here. I’m grateful to be anywhere, as a matter of fact. Matter of fact, if you ride from Los Angeles Airport up here with Dave in a 1973 Cadillac with no brakes- .. no, no oil, and Dave telling you his life history- .. uh, you’ll be grateful to be anywhere. And thank you for finding me a volunteer to drive me back, because I didn’t really wanna ride back with him.

And, uh, the last time they got a volunteer, we were, Clancy and I were over in, uh, somewhere in Georgetown in North Dakota. And Clancy rented a car in Far-Fargo, and we’d ridden in together to this deal, but then he had to go over to Dick’s place on Saturday night. And, uh, so he left, and they got a, a volunteer to take me back to Fargo. And, uh, I’d only been in Georgetown once before and didn’t know the place. But the two people that volunteered had just come out of a treatment center. And when we got out on the highway, they turned right and, and I thought, “Well, gee, this is wrong. I know Clancy and I came in from this side.” So I said, “Don’t we go this way?” And, and they said, “Well, we’ll check with the service station.” And they did, and we found out we were going the way that I was wanting to go. But that wasn’t really a good trip. So I hope that the people that volunteered are, are, uh, just not out of treatment.

And, uh, I’ve had a great time, and I wanna thank the committee for allowing me to be here this weekend. I wanna thank all the people for your hospitality, because you are a friendly bunch of people. And that’s what I like to see in Alcoholics Anonymous. I’ve met so many people and, and it’s just good to see people. And I watch the committee, and other than Jim Shaw, everybody seems to be in good shape. Uh, you know, but I can’t understand why he gets so upset about that jug last night, huh? He called it a pitcher, and I thought he said picture, and I thought he must have a gold picture of Bill Wilson or something up there. But, uh, Cecil, I’m glad you were stupid enough to put up your hand and say you had it. My God, that’s the last thing I would’ve done. But I, I noticed the committee, and you’re a hardworking committee, and that’s really good to see because, you know, some committees aren’t like this. But it’s good to see a committee really getting along.
