How could I be doing that? What is an illusion? What are they talking about? Do you relate to what I'm saying? I am following an idea in my head and have talked myself into believing it. Even when I'm dying, not just going in the woods. I'm listening to this and having another drink. Watch this. Part of me thinks I can drink normally. Boy, I'm dying from this. But don't worry, I'm going to keep drinking.

What does it say later on? The delusion that we are like other people or presently may be has to be smashed. I mean, that's what has to happen to a delusion. It has to be crushed, smashed. Why? Because that's how powerful it is. So how does that tie into what I'm trying to talk about today? Well, one of my heroes, probably my biggest hero is Chuck Chamberlain. And Chuck Chamberlain did a men's retreat many years ago out in California.

Just like this. And there wasn't Lee back then, tapers who went around to the conventions. But many years later when Chuck was getting near the end of his life and they asked him, Chuck, was there ever a time when you were speaking that you felt you were totally plugged in? And he said, oh yeah, that time off at that retreat with those guys. And they went, geez, isn't it a shame that nobody taped that?

And as they asked around, they found out that one of the guys that went there brought his little, the old days, the little tape recorder, and he had it just sitting up there. And lo and behold, you could still make it out. And they transcribed it into the book, A New Pair of Glasses. So that we are blessed that any time we feel like it, we can go experience that retreat. And the interesting thing in there, and it's very hard to talk about this subject.

And I just, when you get old, you just go, screw it, I'll try to talk about anything. I mean, how the hell can you get embarrassed at age 76, right Jerry? It's just pretty hard. So let me tell you the bottom line that Chuck said. And this is awful hard to swallow. Chuck said, there is only one problem that includes all problems. And one solution that includes all solutions. And the problem, he lays out in just one sentence.

But before I get to that sentence, I meant to make a point when I was talking about the illusion that we could drink like other men and we were willing to pursue it into the gates of insanity or death. That's an illusion. And it's an illusion about a very narrow subject. Whether we could drink like other men. So I'd call that like a mini illusion. You follow what I'm saying? Because there's a million other aspects to our life.

But what if there was such a thing as a mega illusion? Not a mini illusion, a mega illusion. What do you suppose that would look like? Well, Chuck said there is one problem that encompasses all problems. And that problem is conscious separation from. Conscious separation from. And he goes on to say, from what? He says, from others, from God, and from ourselves. We have a conscious awareness that we have a problem.
