============================================================
Hi, Arbutus and Bill, well we're back home in Brooklyn, you saw us yesterday, less than 24 hours ago, and we left with the doctor and his wife Amy, they took us on a wonderful tour of Houston, we visited the Travis Club, was it, Travis Club, and we went to the Space Project, we went to Galveston, Texas, via Texas City, we saw Post Office Street, I had never heard of it, P.S., and we had dinner at a lovely, maybe Arbutus, what, maybe Arbutus, Post Office Street, maybe not, well Bill can tell her, then about 8 o'clock we arrived at the airport because Frank had to check in there, and they told us our flight had been cancelled, and we didn't want to inconvenience anyone, and they asked us to come back in about 20 or 25 minutes, so we killed a little more time with the doctor and Amy, and then we went back to the airport and they dropped us off, and they said to please let them know if we ran into any difficulty, they offered us a place to stay overnight at their house, but we went in and by some maneuvering we were able to finally get a flight out sometime around 10 o'clock, 10-10, 10-10 to New Orleans, Louisiana, uh-oh, that phone call was Vi F., and she called to thank Frank for the public meeting that all the Brooklyn AA groups participated in, and that was yesterday, she and John came over and she said it really was a wonderful experience, I guess when Frank talks he'll tell you a little more about the meeting, but anyway, we did get to Atlanta, and we had a, no, we got to New Orleans, we had a 20-minute layover there, and the plane took off for Atlanta, and in Atlanta it was a little bit different story, about a three-hour layover, and we took off after 4 o'clock this morning, and got to our airport a little after 6, and we arrived home at a quarter to 7, oh, I tucked myself in bed, and I got up about 11 and went into the office, so I picked up all the mail, loose ends that were there from Friday, and I guess we're back in business again, it was wonderful to be with you people, but as you know, it's always good to get home again, and I was so glad to see all the girls at the office, they greeted me like a long-lost uncle or something, and I'm running out of words again, I guess Arbutus and I talked ourselves out over the weekend, but I can't begin to tell you how grand it was to be there in Texas, and Frank and I thoroughly, thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, everyone was just grand to us, I guess I'll leave some words for Frank to say, and thanks again, Bill and Arbutus.
Well, I don't know how many words the old gal left for me to say, but I can only repeat what she said, that it was a wonderful weekend for us, and we did certainly enjoy every minute of it, and the only other difficulty we had when we came home, we came from Atlanta to New York on Eastern Airlines, and we had gone down on Delta, and our car was in the parking lot at Kennedy, in the Delta lot, and we were halfway around the airport in Eastern, so we had to take a cab over from Eastern Terminal to get to Delta's parking lot, but it all worked out all right anyway,

and Bill, I'm not going to take a lot of time, I'm not too much of a talker when it comes to this anyway, if we were here and could talk back and forth, I guess I'd find more to say, but that public meeting apparently, although it wasn't, I guess like all Alkys, I built it up bigger than it was going to be in my mind, it was, there weren't the people there that I thought there would be, but we did have, according to the report I got from the fellow tonight, we had about 400 people there, and 50 of them or over were professional people, we had the head surgeon from the police department there, and one of the big wheels from the Department of Parks, and I think there were six or eight doctors, and quite a few social workers, and people that are working closely with alcoholism, so I guess all in all you'd consider it a fairly successful meeting, and of course I wasn't here to tape it, but I had one of my pigeons that I got interested in taping, and one of my babies, Holly says, he's still a pigeon to me, he flew like hell for about six years, but I got him interested in taping, and I kind of had an ulterior motive when I did it, I figured he'd make a real good backup man, and he got real interested in it, he's been, they have two recorders at the house now, they've got a big Norelco, and he just bought one of those new Sonys, and he taped the meeting, and the people that I've talked to have told me that it was a terrific meeting, the three speakers were really wonderful, so at a future time on one of the other tapes, or who knows, even before I finish this one, it's a 2400, and I'm gonna put it on four tracks, I'll put that meeting on there too, it might be interesting for you people down there, particularly not along the talks, but the question and answer period that followed, I imagine there were some good ones, I'm kind of anxious to hear it myself, about that boy in Sacramento, I think it is, I got his catalog here, And he's got some hell of a list of tapes here, I'm not gonna take the time to count them now, but, well, of course, Holly's the statistician, whoo, that was a long flight, she's the statistician in the family, Oh, he's got 155 talks in his catalog, so I'm sure out of those there are a few that you and he can get together on, now, I don't imagine there will be any chronological order on these tapes I put on for you, I'm gonna put on the two dinner talks, of course, and then what comes along that I think will be particularly interesting to you, and I'm gonna get those tapes on for Arbutus that you wanted, Bill's talk and Yev G.'s talk at the last conference, Holly's over here, she thought of something new, I guess.
No, Bill, you'll be interested in this, at the bottom of this list of tapes, it says, all third Saturday, Northern California Fellowship, Central California Fellowship, Capital Group, and Group 3 speaker meetings were held in Sacramento, California, I will be interested in exchanging tapes with other members, please protect the anonymity of members listed. This was printed for the benefit of AA members only, not for the commercial use or gain, and I thought you would feel better knowing that he is interested in hearing from you or whoever else might have tapes, that's all.
Thank you, Holly. And now I have a lady in the audience, in the balcony, Doctor. No, seriously though, Bill, I think that you can get a lot of self-satisfaction as well as do all right for yourself financially in this tape business. Holly and I have talked about it here and I've been so wrapped up in other things I haven't even begun to get organized, in fact, I'm about the most disorganized guy you ever saw in the world right now as far as this is concerned, but I can see where you could do a great deal with it and maybe we'll be in business back and forth one of these days.
[00:10:09]
I'm going to quit now, somewhere further along this tape I'm sure something else will come up or there will be some kind of communication that we want back and forth, but for now I'm just going to say so long until we see you again, and again thanks a million for the wonderful, wonderful weekend we both had.
