Well, now here goes. The first talk bill that I'm putting on here is one that I recorded at the 12th Michigan State Conference held, of all things, listen to this, at the Sheraton Cadillac Hotel in Detroit, celebrating the 25th year of AA in Michigan. This was the main meeting on Sunday afternoon, September 27, 1964. The speaker was Dewey S. of San Mateo, California. He is one of the first 100 men in AA, and at that time had been in, if I remember correctly, about 25 years, having started about 1939. So here goes the recording. As we were coming into an anteroom offstage this afternoon, your speaker turned to me and said, I want to talk with you, and he made it very emphatic. And as we sat in the anteroom, he turned to me and said, Al, don't give me any flowery introduction. Keep it simple, please. And he mentioned those wonderful, wonderful words of our tradition, let's keep principles above personalities. I understood that this man had a four-hour talk, but what he didn't reckon with was the fact that he had an editor who was going to be up here with him who has the sharpest blue pencil in history. And I wasn't about to let him get away with it, but the Air Service took care of that. He has a plane leaving at 6 o'clock, so he can be assured to get out of here by sundown. Back in 1939, shortly less than four years after A.A. was born, there was a little group formed over in Cleveland, Ohio. And there our speaker of today was given, by God's grace, authority through a very young and infant Alcoholics Anonymous. We owe a deep debt of gratitude to those who have come before and have carried the message to us who were suffering. And I feel that gratitude very deeply this afternoon. Among the first 100 men to enter A.A. was your speaker, who then was a resident of Cleveland. His home now is in San Mateo, California. It is with pleasure and indeed an honor that I present to you at this time your speaker of the day, Dewey S., one of the first 100. I have a happy anniversary to all of you. My name is G. Dewey Speeds, and the G in my name is anonymous. I'm truly sorry…
