12 Steps Affirming Life and Death

1 – Admit I’m powerless over the reality of death and cannot stop the dying process.

2 – Come to believe that I need to be restored to sanity.

3 – Made a decision to accept death as a natural part of creation.

4 – Made a searching and fearless moral inventory.

5 – Admit to myself, and share with another human being, and share with God (as I understand God) , all of these shortcomings.

6 – Be entirely ready to be free of these defects of character.

7 – Seek through humility to rid myself of these shortcomings.

8 – Made a list of all persons I had harmed, and be willing to make amends to them all.

9 – Make direct amends to such people when possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.

10 – Continue to take personal inventory and when wrong, promptly admit it.

11 – Seek thought reflection and deliberate contact with other dying persons, to focus on living, not dying.

12 – Having had an awakening as the result of working these steps, I try to carry this message to others.
