Well, Bill, I'm going to sneak another one on, I hope. This original recording was made by Les Fauss at the 6300 Club in Los Angeles, California on July 10, 1957. The speaker is Judge Roy Harrison, who at that time had been sober approximately 14 years. It was the largest attended meeting at the club as of that date. Over 400 were present. Jack Bailey, who lived in Hampton, Iowa, and knew Roy Harrison during their drinking days, was the party that introduced Judge Harrison. Here we go, and I hope it keeps on and completes on the end of this reel. Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. My name is John Wesley Bailey. I hate water, and I will be the last person on the program tonight. I would like to, um, I won't be on 15 minutes. I got about 22 minutes to do. I'd like to get something off my chest. It is true, Maurice Scanlon asked me about a week ago, I guess, to introduce Ray Harrison, and I misunderstood him. I never turned down a chance to get on in my life. I didn't hear him. Tonight, I walked in the joint, first time I've ever seen it clean. It's nice. Maurice, again, asked me, and this is what I want to get off my chest. I saw all these people there. I was going crazy. I thought, I'll never get on tonight. I wonder what I could do. I could sell something or do something. And Maurice asked me, and I heard him. The thing I want to get off my chest is that I kissed him. Yeah, now, we can eat meat on Wednesday. Friends, I want to just say a few thousand things about our speaker tonight. Ah, yes, I knew him when. If ever, in essence of it being needed AA, this terrible, old, drunken singer does. I spent the first few years of my life at the University of Drake in Des Moines, Iowa following in the footsteps of Ray Harrison. It's not easy. He's fat, and he sings. He was in the University of Drake 14 years, the drunkenest fossi that ever slobbered on the campus of Drake University, and he cannot deny that in this court. He was a yell leader for 12 years, and a bad one. He's the only guy that ever got drunk at homecoming…
